Racine man charged after violent sexual attack

Jermain D Winters, 28 of Racine has been charged with felony 1st Deg.Sexual Assault/Great Bodily Harm-REPEATOR and is being held on $50,000 cash bond after making his initial appearance in Racine Circuit Court. His preliminary hearing is schedule for March 23, 2016. According to inmate records a hold has been placed on his by Wisconsin Department of Corrections.

According to the criminal complaint on February 19, 2016 Racine Police responded to calls for a violent sexual attack. Upon arrival officers found the victim and observed the victim to have a very swollen face and bruised, the victims right eye was swollen shut and her right cheek was very swollen. Officers noted there was blood on the victims nose and mouth her left eye was swollen that is was protruding outwards and what appeared to be shoe tread marks on the victims face and nose. The victim also suffered injuries to her hands and a bite mark on her finger. The victim was transported to the hospital by rescue squad. It was later documented she suffered broken bones to her face.

Investigators interviewed the victim who stated she was attacked while walking in the morning in an alley in the 1900 block of Slausen Ave. She stated the defendant punched her in the face and grabbed her by a choke hold. The victim tried to defend herself with a box cutter, cutting the defendant, tried to run and fell. The defendant dove on top of her preventing her escape, and violently attacked her and sexually assault her, the criminal complaint reads.

Investigators located the crime scene where they were able to recover blood and bodily fluid evidence along with the box cutter. Additionally video evidence collected showed the victim walking and showed the defendant walking behind the victim. Video shows the defendant wearing the same clothing as described by the victim. The defendant was ID’d through photos. Investigators executed a search warrant at the defendants residence and located clothing items.
