Joseph A Pirk Sr, of Racine has been charged with Injury by Intoxicated Use/Vehicle. He was scheduled to make his initial appearance in Racine Circuit Courts Tuesday afternoon.
According to the criminal complaint, Racine Police responded to an accident on September 30th at 8:46 p.m. to an accident on West Blvd. Upon arrival officers observed rescue personnel trying to extricate a passenger from the vehicle. Officers noted that the vehicle appeared to have been traveling south on West Blvd. when it struck a legally parked Ford Super Duty truck.
Officers observed an odor of intoxicants on the defendant who admitted being the driver of the vehicle. He allegedly had trouble speaking and was slurring his words, the defendants eyes were glassy and watery and the defendant had trouble standing according to the criminal complaint.
The criminal complaint states, the defendant was transported to the hospital for injuries and field sobriety tests were not performed due to the defendant being injured. The defendant agreed to blood draw. ER Staff stated that the defendant would not released from the hospital until 4 a.m. the next morning due to his high level of intoxication.
