Racine man charged with armed robbery after jumping into car

Bryce M Bowens, 39 of Racine has been charged with one count of
Armed Robbery and one count of misd. bail jumping in connection with a December 31st armed robbery in the parking lot of Neighborhood Pantry at 1511 W. Sixth Street. He was given a $10,000 cash bond after appearing Friday afternoon in Racine Circuit Court. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 14, 2016.

According to the criminal complaint, on December 31,2015, Racine Police responded for an armed robbery that occurred at Neighborhood Pantry at 1511 W. Sixth Street. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim who stated that she had pulled into the parking lot and had seen someone who she recognized (identified as the defendant) walk by her vehicle. The defendant walked around the vehicle and entered through the passenger side door, telling the victim “EXPLETIVE, don’t try to jump out” and pulled a gun from his waist band.

The defendant allegedly told the victim “EXPLETIVE, give me your wallet”, grabbed the purse from the backseat and told the victim “EXPLETIVE, drive off”. The defendant made the victim drive down 6th Street and then onto Jones Ave where he exited the vehicle mid block,. The defendant told the victim “EXPLETIVE, the next time I see you I am going to shoot you”, the complaint states.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim was able to positively identify the defendant in a photo line up.
