Racine man charged with attempted robbery of Lincoln Supermarket

Joshua L James has been charged with attempted armed robbery. He preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 21, 2016. He was given a $3,500 cash bond.

According to the criminal complaint Racine Police were dispatched on January 9,2016 to Lincoln Supermarket at 1706 State Street for a report of an attempted robbery. Upon arrival officers spoke to the victim who stated that a black male (identified as the defendant) approached the counter demanding money. The victim indicated that the defendant placed his right hand in his front waistband acting if he had a gun and told the defendant to give him $300. The victim pushed the panic alarm and stated that the defendant said “Why did you do that?” The suspect continued to yell at the victim “Give me the money”.

The victim refused to hand over any money and the attempted robbery was caught on store video tape. Officers stopped the defendant in the area and were able to positively identify him as the suspect in the attempted robbery at Lincoln Supermarket.
