Racine man to help Veterans with vehicles

Shane Jamrych of Racine has taken on a mission. His mission has become helping Veterans who served in combat that needs a vehicle obtain one. The project started when he purchased a 1964 Chevy Impala from someone who was selling it to raise funds.

He found out that a Veteran who served in the Marines during the Vietnam War had one in his family. When I spoke with Shane he explained to me that this man’s dad had one and that it had been in an accident when he was serving over seas.

The Veteran and his father were going to work on it together when he returned from the war, but upon arriving home the car was gone. It was always a great dream to work on it with his father but he never got the chance.

Shane explained that the Veteran showed interest in the vehicle but Shane didn’t just want to sell it to him. Upon learning all the details, Shane is restoring the vehicle and is going to surprise him on the 4th of July by presenting it to him as a gift.

Shane would like to now be able to help one local veteran each year with a vehicle. They are accepting donations at Educators Credit Union and have a go fund me to off set the costs of buying all the needed parts. Any Vet interested or their family member can visit the facebook page, let Shane know who the Veteran is, where he saw combat, what the veteran is about as a person and why they should receive a car. Shane plans on choosing now one person per year and doing a car for them.
