On 11/10/15 at about 12:19pm Officers were dispatched to a burglary in progress in the 1900 block of Grange Ave. A neighbor observed three individuals kick in the back door of a home and enter. The initial responding officer arrived, determined the exact location, and approached the home. As the officer approached the home he observed three individuals walk from the back of the home. The responding officer gave commands, but all three suspects fled the yard jumping over a fence in the process. The responding officer gave descriptions of the fleeing offenders as the responding squads set up a perimeter.
Officers located two of the suspects hiding behind bushes in the 1900 block of Taylor Ave. After a brief foot pursuit both suspects were taken into custody. Officers located a backpack in the bushes, where the suspects were hiding, that contained several items taken in the burglary.
The 17 year old suspect was charged with 1 count of burglary, 4 counts of obstructing an officer, and a probation violation. The 16 year old suspect was charged with 1 count of burglary, and 4 counts of obstructing an officer.
The Racine Police Department must acknowledge and show appreciation to the willingness of the neighborhood to become involved, and notify the police of suspicious activity. The communitys watchful eye over their neighborhoods should not go unnoticed.
