On October 13th and 14th, the Greater Racine Human Trafficking Task Force participated in Operation Cross Country X. Operation Cross Country, led by the F.B.I., is a coordinated worldwide law enforcement effort focused on recovering victims of human sex trafficking. The Greater Racine Human Trafficking Task Force realizes minimal value in arresting victims of human sex trafficking. The task force is committed to providing services to put the victims on a path to rehabilitation. The Greater Racine Human Trafficking Task Force utilizes state and federal statutes to vigorously prosecute those who exploit these vulnerable victims.
Human sex trafficking affects communities throughout southeastern Wisconsin. Locally the Greater Racine Human Trafficking Task Force partnered with numerous area jurisdictions to address sex trafficking throughout Racine and Kenosha counties. As a result 6 adults and 4 juveniles were recovered. Investigations have begun into the activities of several individuals suspected of exploiting these victims. Intelligence gathered by our law enforcement partners from the City of Kenosha led to the recovery of four victims at a home in the city of Kenosha. Three of those victims were juveniles. The owner of the home has been charged with Keeping a House of Prostitution and Trafficking of a Child.
“This operation was successful due to the outstanding partnerships we have with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. As a task force we continue to focus on recovering sex trafficking victims and providing them with advocacy and services that they may need as well as bringing those that exploit them to justice” said Investigator Neal Lofy.
