Racine Police respond for a rescue run involving a newborn


rapd 1After additional information gained this morning, the news release of an abandoned baby has been changed to a rescue run of a child birth. Police responded with rescue due to the initial details of the call. Today after additional research, it is not being considered an abandoned new born.

On Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at 3:15am, officers responded to a home in the 3600 block of Princess Place regarding an infant that had been abandoned outside. Upon officer’s arrival, they located a newborn infant inside the residence. The child was transported to Wheaton Franciscan Medical Center.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 17 year old mother gave birth to the child in her residence. The mother of the newborn stated that she was not aware she was pregnant and panicked when the child was born.
Both the mother and child were taken to Wheaton Franciscan Medical Center for aftercare.
