Racine Police-Shots fired and downtown accident related


rapd 1On Saturday, February 6th at approximately 2:30 a.m., Racine Police were dispatched to a shots fired incident in the area of 8th and Main St. Shortly after that, an accident was reported at 5th and Main St. It was reported that one of the vehicles involved was on fire with people trapped inside. Through the investigation it has been confirmed that the shots fired and accident investigations are directly related to one another. As a result of the accident, a 20 year old male and a 25 year old male were transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries. Both were later transported to Froedtert for further treatment. A 23 year old female went to the hospital for treatment as well.

No one is in custody at this time in relation to this incident. Those injured are expected to survive their injuries.

Numerous citizens responded to the scene to help accident victims. Investigators are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incidents or may have responded to assist. Police are seeking any surveillance or cell phone video that may have captured this incident. Specifically, video from the following areas: 10th Street and Washington Avenue, eastbound on 10th Street to Main Street, and north on Main Street to the crash location.

The time frame for this video would be between 2:20 a.m. and 2:45 a.m. on Saturday, February 6th. In addition, we are seeking any video from the downtown area from 2:30 a.m. through 2:45 a.m.

Due to the ongoing investigation the Racine Police Department does not anticipate the release of further information regarding this incident.
