Celia V Coronado-Lopez, 20 of Racine has been charged with felony Substantial Battery-Intend Bodily Harm and misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct. She was given a $500 cash bond after making her initial appearance Monday in Racine Circuit Court.
According to the criminal complaint on June 12, 2016 Racine Police responded to the 1700 block of Grand Ave reference a civil trouble. Upon arrival they spoke with a witness who stated that there was a victim who had been assaulted by two individuals. The mothers of those involved attempted to solve the problems peacefully but according to the report the threats from the defendant and another individual continued.
Officers spoke with a witness who recorded the assault on their cell phone. The video shows that as the victim and her mother were walking away after speaking with the other mother that the suspects viciously throwing closed fist punches at both parties and making contact. Video footage shows the defendant pulling the victim to the ground by her hair and began striking her in the face several times, the video also shows another witness yelling in the video for the defendant to “beat her expletive”.
The complaint states that two unknown parties pulled the defendant off the victim and the victim is shown on video crying in pain. Officers report that due to the assault the victim suffered a seizure, was transported to the hospital, where staff told authorities the victim suffered a fractured nose.
