Residents displaced, Racine Firefighter suffers minor injuries in 6th Street Fire


6th street 1 The Racine Fire Department responded to 1827 W 6th Street Saturday night at 7:01 p.m. 911 calls came in from multiple callers stating “dark smoke and fire showing”. The first in crews arrived within 3 minutes and quickly extinguished the exterior fire before making an interior attack. One firefighter sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from the hospital. The majority of the fire damage was contained to the first floor with exterior fire extending to the roof. No one was home at the time of the fire. Red Cross will be housing the occupants until after Christmas. This fire is currently under investigation. Estimated loss is $25,000 to the structure and $7,000 to the contents.
