Today is  very sad day for the law enforcement community and all those in Racine County. Retired Mount Pleasant K-9 Officer Bones passed away today October 16th, 2015 at the age of 11 1/2 years old. Bones was born May 5th. Bones retired after a nine year career with Officer Dale Swart and the Mount Pleasant Police Department. He retired May 19, 2015. During his career Bones and Officer Swart made countless arrests, sniffed out illegal drugs and even helped recover weapons.  K-9 Bones was loved by the entire community.

Bones began to suffer from seizures and had increasing problems with his hind legs after his retirement. Members from the Mount Pleasant Police, Racine Police, Kenosha Police, Pleasant Prairie Police K-9 Units, Sturtevant Police along with the Dr Schmidt and the staff of For Pets Sake Vet, Sturtevant were there today to pay a final salute for him.

A K-9 Unit is a special unit, they are together 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. At home when they are not on duty they are furry family members, but on duty, a K-9 will put their lives on the line to protect their human partner and will always have their back.
