Stephen Bull Fine Arts Elementary celebrating 40 years of education, community

fine artsFine Arts 40th Anniversary Festival Saturday, May 14, 11 a.m. opening ceremony in front of the school, 11:30-3 p.m. festival in the back. Where: 815 DeKoven Ave

Forty years ago, members of this community took a chance. They believed a school rooted in the arts could be something special, and created Stephen Bull Fine Arts. We are honoring this legacy, festival style!

A group of parent volunteers has been working this school year to plan an event that celebrates and honors the school, and all the people who have passed through its doors over the past four decades. We invite the community, particularly alumni and their families, former teachers and staff, and artists and performers who worked with students throughout the years to join us for the celebration.

The festival will include the kinds of things you’d expect: live music, celebrity story time readers (with local actors bringing the stories to life), field games, an art area, vendor fair, face painting. But we’ve also got plans for something uniquely Fine Arts. Over the next several weeks, groups of people will put together displays of materials from each of the school’s four decades, to showcase the rich history of the school, its staff and students.
