Suspect arrested in connection with Rochester & Waterford Robberies

RCSOOn 08/06/15 at 11:43 a.m. the Racine County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an armed robbery that occurred at the Village of  Rochester Library (RASO Complaint 15-049697). Deputies immediately responded to the scene and began a preliminary investigation into the incident. Approximately 15 minutes after the initial call, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of an attempted robbery at the Village of Waterford library (RASO Complaint 15-0497699). Investigators and responding deputies immediately determined that the Waterford and Rochester incidents were related and launched a full scale investigation into the matter.

Since the initial incident, Sheriff’s investigators have worked countless investigative hours in order to identify the individual responsible for these crimes. Through the course of the investigation, Sheriff’s investigators conducted extensive follow-up and were able to establish that Simon Rubio M/H 7/15/84 was the individual responsible for the robberies.

On 09/30/15 Sheriff’s investigators executed a search warrant at Rubios residence located in the City of Burlington, where he was subsequently taken into custody. Rubio was conveyed to the Racine County Jail where he is currently being held on several felony and misdemeanor charges related to the incidents mentioned above. Rubio is also currently being held on a probation hold from the Wisconsin DOC. The investigation into this matter is ongoing. There is no additional information available at this time.
