Teen charged after Racine Police respond for a man with a gun call

gun2Auston C Harris, 17 of Racine has been charged with Carry Concealed Weapon and Disorderly Conduct use of a dangerous weapon. He made his initial appearance in Racine Circuit Courts and was given a $100 cash bond after making his initial appearance in Racine Circuit Court

According to the criminal complaint on June 18, 2016, Racine Police responded to the 1600 block of Blake reference a man with a gun call. Dispatched advised to officers that witnesses saw the defendant point a gun at another party that had left the after and provide police that the suspect was wearing a black sweatshirt and jeans.  Dispatched had arrived responding officer that witnesses stated that the man with a gun went between two houses in the 1300 block of Blake Ave and then came back out without the black sweatshirt on and was wearing a white tshirt and was near a vehicle on Blake Ave.

The complaint reads that upon arrival officers made contact with the defendant and other officers could be heard yelling that multiple parties were running through a back yard. All parties were detained and at that time a gun was not recovered from the defendants person.

During the investigation dispatch advised to police that the defendant was positively ID’d by the witness. Officers searched the area that dispatch had advised them witnesses stated the defendant went and they recovered a black sweatshirt and a silver handgun. Based on witness statements the defendant was charged with Disorderly Conduct while using a dangerous weapon.

The criminal complaint states that when the defendant was transported to the Racine County Jail he inquired to officers what he was being charged with. When officers told him he allegedly made a spontaneous utterance saying that “He didn’t point the gun at anyone, he had the gun under his shirt, and that he only lifted up his shirt to display the gun to the victim that left the area. At the time of the report the victim could not be located
