Teen charged with 2 counts of attempted homicide after shooting outside local bar

Joshua J. Vallin 17 of Racine, has been charged with two counts of attempted intentional homicide after shooting outside Rojo’s Bar on January 10, 2016. He was given a $100,000 cash bond after making his initial appearance. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 27,2016

According to the criminal complaint on Sunday January 10, 2016 at 1:38 p.m. Racine Police were dispatched to Rojo’s Bar for a reported shooting that happened outside. Upon arrival police found a victim who had been shot in the chest but said he didn’t know who the suspect was. Officers were able to obtain video footage of the exterior of the bar. Video shows that a group of people were outside when an argument breaks out between a female party and a younger hispanic male. The argument spilled out into the street.

Video footage shows the defendant, is seen running northeast down the opposite side of Yout Street. He then stops and fires a round as evidenced by a muzzle flash. Two victims are seeing stumbling a way with one victim grabbing his chest. Additional shots were fired by the suspect as shown on video.

According to the criminal complaint, 9mm shell casings were found at the scene and police were able to trace footprints of the defendant back to an address in the 1500 block of Erie Street. Investigators out at All Saints ER noticed the defendant who matched the clothing description sitting there holding his right sleeve and something heavy appeared to be concealed in it and believed it could be a firearm. Officers at the location on Erie Street were given permission to search the residence and were told that the defendant has a flop room at the location. Several Luger 9mm rounds were recovered that matched the shell casings. Officers were told by the relative that the defendant often stayed in that room
