Teen charged with theft after alleged robbery

police lights-handcuffsGarrit J Schlenz, 16 of Racine has been charged with Theft-Movable Property fr. Person/Corpse and Disorderly Conduct. He was given a $5,000 cash bond after making his initial appearance in Racine Circuit Court. He was also charged today with 5 counts of Retail Theft – Intentionally Take (<=$500) and one count of battery in a separate case involving multiple thefts from Pick N Save located in the 2800 block of N. Green Bay Road.

According to the criminal complaint, and Investigator met with the victim and a family member in regards to an armed robbery that occurred on May 20, 2015. The victim stated that he and two others along with the defendant were walking from Case High School to Burger King when the group started talking about how much money they had. The victim told police that he didn’t think much of the conversation until the defendant allegedly punched him in the face.

The complaint states that the victim and one of the parties in the group took off running and the defendant and another party caught up with them behind the Summit Restaurant. The report states that the defendant allegedly pulled a gun from his waistband and told the victim to give him his money saying “it’s your lucky day I’m going to let you live”. The victim then gave the defendant his money and took off running to the school
