Two charged in connection with robbery of disabled man

handcuffsElena Brand, 32 of Racine and Albert Lowery, 37 of Racine have both been charged in connection of a July 6th robbery of a disabled man.
Brand is being held on bail of $5,000 cash after being charged with Robbery with Use of Force. Lowery is being held on $10,000 cash bond on the charged of robbery with the use of force, accoding to inmate records, he is also on a hold from Department of Correction. Their preliminary hearings are scheduled on July 15, 2015.

According to the criminal complaint, on July 6th, at 3:04 p.m. the Racine Police Department responded to calls for a robbery in the 1000 blk of College Ave. Upon arrival officers made contact with the victim who stated that a male party identified as the male defendant, entered his residence through the back door, pinned the victims arm behind his back and forcible took his wallet from him. The male defendant then grabbed the house phone and the female defendants cell phone who was also a caretaker for the victim.

The victim gave a description of the male suspect to police and stated that he had made a withdrawl earlier that day and only Brand knew he had money in his wallet because he had given her $25.00 at which point she left the house for 45 minutes, returned and the robbery happened 10 minutes after that.

Police spoke with Brand who stated that she is the unofficial caretaker of the victim and she does household chores for small amounts of cash. According to the complaint Brands story began to change and eventually she led police to a residence in the 1000 blk of College where they made contact with the male defendant and Brand asked him where the wallet was. Racine Police located the wallet and clothing the suspect wore during the robbery in the basement. The money was missing. According to police reports the female suspect-Brand had told the male suspect-Lowery that the victim had money on him where they made plans for the victim to be robbed, when the female arrived back at the victims residence she allegedly texted Lowery stating that the back door was open.
