Victims identified in Saturday night motorcycle accident

police lightsOn Saturday, October 10th 2015 at 7:45 pm officers from the Mount Pleasant Police Department (MPPD) were sent by the Racine County Communication’s Center to a motorcycle crash with two injured occupants at the intersection of STH 32 (Racine St.) and 25th St. in the Village of Mount Pleasant. An officer arrived on scene within one minute after the call was dispatched. The officer determined that both occupants of the motorcycle were seriously injured. There were several witnesses on scene as well.

The South Shore Fire Department arrived on scene and almost immediately transported the male driver of the motorcycle, MICHAEL K BROWN, 51 from Racine, to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital before being air lifted to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, as a result of his serious injuries sustained in the crash. At this time BROWN is being treated for his injuries. His condition is unknown at this time.

It was quickly determined that the female passenger on the motorcycle, CONNIE BENITEZ, 54 from Racine, died suddenly after the crash occurred. Neither occupant was wearing a helmet.
The Technical Reconstruction Unit from the Wisconsin State Patrol was called to the scene and assisted with this crash investigation. Also, Northbound and Southbound traffic was redirected with the assistance of the Racine Police Department on a portion of STH 32, while this crash was being investigated.

It was suspected that alcohol and speed were a factor in this crash. The exact circumstances relating to this crash have not yet been determined. This crash investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by MPPD and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
