The Racine Police Department has released the names of those involved in the Sunday morning accident in downtown
(Operator of vehicle 2) Schweissinger, Raymond S. 11-10-1957
(Passenger of vehicle 2) Peterson, James A. 05-12-1984
On June 21, 2015 at 1:37am, officers responded to the 100 block of Main St. in reference to a two vehicle accident with multiple injuries.
Through initial investigation it is determined that one vehicle was traveling north on Main St. in the 100 block when it was struck by another vehicle traveling southbound on Main St. The driver of the southbound vehicle fled the scene on foot and was quickly apprehended by a security officer from Metro Security and Public Safety.
The northbound vehicle had three occupants. All three occupants were transported to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital where two expired. The third occupant of that vehicle was transferred to Froedtert hospital.
The driver of the southbound vehicle was taken into custody and transported to Wheaton Franciscan for injuries. The passenger in that vehicle was also being treated for injuries.
Racine Police Department Traffic Unit, Major Crimes evidence technicians, and State Patrol, have been activated and are conducting the investigation at this time.
