Waterford Police-Theft suspect arrested, more than 100 stolen items recovered


handcuffsOn Monday February 8, 2016, the Waterford Police Department was contacted by the Lindenhurst Illinois Police Department regarding a suspect they had in custody for numerous thefts from vehicles in their jurisdiction as well as neighboring jurisdictions. Waterford Police were advised that during the early morning hours on January 29, 2016, an Officer from the Lake Villa Police Department conducted a traffic stop of a suspicious vehicle. During this traffic stop, it was determined that the vehicles lone adult male occupant was in possession of stolen property. The subject was subsequently taken into custody and interviewed by Officers. During this interview, the 25 year old male from Franklin Wi (Travis McDade). confessed to committing numerous thefts from vehicles in southeastern Wisconsin as well as northern Illinois.

He stated that he began committing the thefts in mid December for a way to earn money to buy his daughter Christmas gifts. He further stated that he ONLY ENTERED UNLOCKED VEHICLES. Well over one hundred confirmed or suspected stolen items were recovered from his vehicle. Evidence of many items being previously pawned was also recovered. Some of the items reported stolen to Waterford Police on or about January 28, 2016 have been recovered by Lindenhurst P.D. The Waterford Police Department will be issuing Theft charges to Travis McDade as a result of this incident.
