West Lawn Fire causes $40,000 in damages and is under investigation

RFD-logo6/13/2016 at 11:10am, a neighbor called 911 after seeing smoke coming from “his neighbor’s backyard”. The Racine Fire Department responded to 1008 West Lawn Ave and upon arrival Fire crews found heavy fire and smoke conditions on the back deck and flames extending up the siding towards the roof line. Fire crews quickly extinguished this fire while an interior search found no one home other than a dog, which was safely returned to its owner upon arrival. We-Energies secured the utilities to the home and the home was turned over to the owner/ restoration company on scene. This fire is currently under investigation. Fire damage estimates according the officials with the Racine Fire Department is $40,000.
