From the Racine County Sheriff’s Office
On 07-29-2015 at 5:15 pm a boating incident occurred on WindLake in Racine County where a 77 year old male did not resurface after entering the water off his boat. Sheriff and Fire personnel were dispatched to WindLake for an immediate search and rescue for this person. Search and rescue efforts turned to search and recovery in the early morning hours of July 30th. At approximately 9:46am on July 30th the body of Gerald M. Felician was located by rescue divers. The incident remains under investigation but preliminary information indicates the victim died from drowning. Victim was not wearing a life jacket. Gerald Felician was a resident of Racine County and resided in the WindLake area.
Sheriff Schmaling would like to thank the many agencies that assisted in the recovery effort. Besides the Racine County Dive and Rescue Team, there were personnel and special equipment from many local Fire Departments as well as personnel from northern Illinois and southeastern Wisconsin Fire Departments. Several other law enforcement agencies provided personnel and equipment during the recovery efforts as well.
