Woman charged after chasing man with knife

police lights-handcuffsDonna A. Breckenridge 48 of Racine has been charged one count of disorderly conduct use of a dangerous weapon misd. B. and was given a $150.00 cash bond.

According to the criminal complaint, Racine Police were dispatched on Friday May 29 at 8:35 p.m. to the 1900 block of 16 Street for reports of a woman chasing a man with a knife.

Upon arrival the victim who was not injured told police that he and Breckenridge, had been drinking at the Packard Avenue address when Breckenridge said she was in need of a new lighter. The victim went to a nearby store to purchase one but while he was away, the defendant was allegedly told that her boyfriend had been cheating on her, the criminal complaint states.

According to the complaint, When the victim returned, the defendant allegedly yelled obscenities at him and confronted him with the knife, the police report indicates. The knife had a blade of about 8 and half inches, police said. Police interviewed witnesses who stated that he believed the defendant meant to stab the man and also said that members of his family and children were outside the home at the time of the attack and the kids began to scream and cry when they saw the commotion.

According to the the criminal complaint, the victim, told police he did not want to press charges, also told Racine Police that the defendant had served 13 years in prison for stabbing and killing her previous husband. When questioned by police the defendant also stated she had served time in prison in Mississippi for manslaughter but did not speak of the details.
