On Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 2026 hours the Racine County Communications Center received a 911 call of an accident that occurred at the intersection of STH 11 and 67th Drive in the Town of Yorkville in Racine County.
Racine County Deputies responded and found that this was a single car accident and there were two occupants in the car. It was found that the car was traveling southbound on 67th Drive and failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of STH 11. The car then crashed into a ditch which caused severe front end damage.
Deputies found a 41 year old female driver from Antioch, IL lying across the front seat, not wearing her seatbelt. The female driver had facial injuries and was in and out of consciousness. The windshield was smashed on the driver’s side. Deputies found that there was a 9 year old male in the rear passenger seat in a car seat with his seatbelt on. The boy was conscious and his injuries were found to be bruising on his chest and hips which are believed to be from the seatbelt. Both occupants were transported to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital in Racine by the Union Grove / Yorkville Fire and Rescue Department.
Alcohol appears to have been a factor and the accident remains under investigation.
