63 year old Racine man charged with armed robbery

Clyde J Oliver, 63 of Racine has been charged with
Robbery with Use of Force, Possess Firearm-Convicted of a Felony, Carry Concealed Weapon, Operate Firearm While Intoxicated, Intentionally Point Firearm At Person and two counts of Resisting or Obstructing an Officer. He was given a $50,000 cash bond Thursday afternoon in Racine Circuit Courts. According to jail records a hold has been placed on him by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.

According to the criminal complaint on March 19, 2016 Racine Police responded to the 1700 block of Douglas Ave for an armed robbery. Dispatch informed officers that the victim was robbed at gun point and the suspect was wearing a blue jacket and had dredlocks and was seen behind a residence in the 1600 block of Martin Luther King Drive.

As officers were arriving in the 1600 block of Martin Luther King they were waived down by the victim and observed the defendant come out from behind a shed, the victim told police that this was the person who robbed him. The defendant climbed a fence and threw the gun on the roof of a building and fled from police. Officers chased the suspect into Champion Liquor Store and was taken into custody, the gun was recovered and other evidence involved in the crime, the complaint reads.

The criminal complaint states that while being taken into custody, officers recovered a 8 5/8 steak knife from the defendants waist band and there was a distinct odor of intoxicants coming from the defendant.

When officers interviewed the victim, he stated that the defendant came into the store and brought items to the counter to be purchased. As the victim was ringing up the items he noticed the defendant holding a black hand gun and the defendant told the victim “Give me all your money now. Give it all. We run this city” while pointing the gun at the victim and threatening to shoot him, the complaint reads.
