Caretaker accused of stealing 42 checks and cashing them for over $7,400

handcuffsHollie M Giese, 41 of Racine has been charged with four counts of Forgery-Writings or Objects, four counts of Forgery-Uttering, and four counts of Misappropriate ID Info – Obtain Money. She was given a $2,500 signature bond after appearing in Racine Courts on Wednesday

According to the criminal complaint in September of 2015 Investigators with the Racine Police Department met with a party reference a fraud report. The victim stated that between November 2014 and September 2015, 42 checks were drawn off her checking account without her consent and had been made out to the defendant. The victim stated that the defendant is a caretaker for a family member who lives with her at her home. Investigators learned through their investigation that 32 checks were negotiated at ECU on Rapids, 9 checks were cashed at Newman Road and one check was cashed at ECU in South Milwaukee. Investigators spoke with the defendant who allegedly admitted to writing all the checks and taking them from the home and the victim was not aware. The total amount for the checks cashed according to reports was $7,430.
