Racine man charged with attempted homicide after stabbing woman

handcuffsVansha M Campbell, 27 of Racine has been charged with attempted 1st-Degree Intentional Homicide and is being held on $30,000 cash bond after making his initial appearance in Racine Circuit Court on Wednesday August 26.

According to the criminal complaint on August 19th Racine Police were dispatched to a parking lot in the 2200 block of Washington Ave for a party stabbed during a fight. Upon arrival officers found the victim who had been stabbed in her back and she was transported to Wheaten Franciscan. According to witnesses the defendant came out of an apartment with knives in his hand and was threatening to kill people. According to witness statements there had been two parties fighting in the parking lot who had left the scene and the defendant went to a stairway where the victim and another party were fighting. The defendant began making “wild swinging motions” and stated he was going to kill her.

Racine Police interview the victim who stated that there were parties drinking in her apartment including the defendant and began arguing. She stated that she was knocked to the ground and pulled down the stairs by the defendant. She went back to her apartment and discovered she was bleeding and had been stabbed in the back and her purse and cell phone were missing

Racine Police executed a search warrant on the defendants residence, and according to the criminal complaint three knives as well as the victims cell phone was discovered.
